Turf Fertilization and Weed Control Program
Round 1 – Crabgrass Pre-Emergent & Fertilization
For optimum control this application is applied at 1 lb of active ingredient per 1000 sq ft when the soil temperature reaches a minimum of 55 degrees fahrenheit. To ensure efficacy of this treatment we use Prodiamine, which has the longest residual of any crabgrass pre-emergent on the market at 13 weeks. Typical application timing is March through beginning of May.
Round 2 – Turf Fertilization & Weed Control
Round 2 begins the first of four weed and feed treatments. This spray of broadleaf weeds covers the entire strand of turf on your property while feeding your turf at 3/4 lbs nitrogen per 1000 per sq ft. Although many weeds are eliminated at this time, completely freeing your turf of dandelions and other broadleaf weeds won’t happen until later in the season. Typical application timing is May through June.
Round 3 – Summer Fertilization & Weed Control (Grub Control Included)
Our mid-summer application consists of your regularly scheduled feeding and weed control. This includes spot treating any potential crabgrass areas that may not have been affected by the pre-emergent. Finally, a grub prevention will be applied at 1 lb of active ingredient (imidacloprid) per 1000 sq ft. When watered in properly at approximately 1 inch of water per section this treatment has a greater than 97.8 % chance of preventing any white grub eggs from hatching. Timing of this application varies but often begins the last week of June running through the beginning of August.
Round 4 – Late Summer Fertilization & Weed Control
This treatment is designed to help any potential dormant or stressed turf grow through this difficult stage of its life, caused from excessive heat. Spot treatments for post emergent crabgrass are also sprayed at this time. This treatment is typically applied August through September.
Round 5 – Fall Fertilization & Weed Control
This treatment is one of the most effective treatments when it comes to weed control in your turf. At this point most broadleaf weeds have reached the end of their life cycle and begin moving into a dormant stage. The plants are actively taking up food, water and the herbicides we spray. The turf begins to take all the material to the bottom of the taproot, thus eliminating the plant from reproducing the following season. Treatment occurs September through the beginning of November.
Round 6 – Winterguard
The final application of fertilizer treatment is vital to how your turf starts off the following spring season. The food that is placed on your turf goes into carbohydrate reserves allowing the root system area to begin pushing new growth when the soil temps start to rise.
Pet Friendly
In order to keep your pets safe we offer the option to receive a call in advance prior to treatment. After treatment is completed our certified technicians will air sweep all granular material back into turf area from patios, decks, sidewalks, driveways, etc. and leave a door hanger stating what was applied, date, time and how long to stay off the turf.
